Queensbury Theatre is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which offers professional and educational theatre programs. Located in CityCentre, Queensbury is the only professional theatre in West Houston. With the desire to bring a new theatrical experience to Houston and to contribute to the future of the art form, Queensbury Theatre strives to produce, create and cultivate professional, ground-breaking, and affordable musicals and plays on an intimate level. Queensbury Theatre houses and operates the Tribble School for the Performing Arts, a program which serves 350-400 students and their families per semester. In 2015, Queensbury moved into its current state-of-the-art facility which features a 250 seat proscenium theatre and a 100 seat black box theatre.

About the Position: Queensbury is seeking an Audio Engineer / Sound Engineer for upcoming Queensbury & Tribble School productions. Responsibilities would include sourcing all required sound effects, setting up the sound playback equipment, programming the sound board and sound checking for band and cast, and engineering/mixing each performance.

 

Length of Employment/Contract: Depending on the applicant availability and experience - a contract could be offered for the upcoming Season OR on a production by production basis. The first production available is the Tribble School’s Fall 2024 production run of HADESTOWN THE MUSICAL, running from October 27th-November 10th. 

Responsibilities:

● Attend all production meetings and specific meetings with the Executive Director and Production Team

● Attend rehearsals that are deemed necessary and all Technical/Dress rehearsals and performances

● Be familiar with QLab, the program used for playback

● Be familiar with the Yamaha CL3 console

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies

Education/Experience: Previous Sound Design experience necessary. Works well with children. Ability to work evenings and weekends required.

Supplemental Functions: Perform other duties as assigned. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds.

Compensation: Compensation is commensurate with experience and ability.
