AUDITIONS

Charlie Brown

Depicted as a "lovable loser," Charlie Brown is characterized as a person who frequently suffers, and as a result is usually nervous and lacks self-confidence. He shows both pessimistic and optimistic attitudes: on some days, he is reluctant to go out because his day might just be spoiled, but on others, he hopes for the best and tries as much as he can to accomplish things.

Snoopy

Charlie Brown’s pet beagle. Snoopy is loyal, innocent, imaginative and good-natured; known for his “happy dance” and his numerous alter-egos. A non-speaking role- physicality and improv a must.  Must be able to dance and move freely.

Lucy

Linus’ older sister. Lucy is characterized as a "fussbudget", crabby, bossy and opinionated girl who bullies most other characters in the strip, particularly Linus and Charlie Brown.

Linus

Charlie Brown’s blanket-toting best friend and Lucy’s little brother; Sally’s love interest; Though young and insecure, Linus is very intelligent and very wise; acts as the group’s philosopher and theologian. Linus is sympathetic towards Charlie Brown, and often gives him advice after listening to Charlie Brown's various insecurities.

Sally

The youngest of the group, with a very young sounding voice; Charlie Brown’s little sister who has a crush on Linus; is adorable and spunky but often overreacts to situations.

A very talented musician, who is obsessed with the music of Beethoven; Lucy’s love interest; Charlie Brown’s second-best friend after Linus.

Not to be confused with Peppermint Patty. Patty is a girl who thinks highly of herself, and because of her self-opinion, she often torments the hapless Charlie Brown.

An aspiring singer/songwriter. A unique, appealing, funny and vulnerable girl from a Jewish family in Brooklyn. Talented, good natured, unassuming and often the peace maker in difficult situations. A reluctant star with no pretense and a passion for music.

A reimagined production of L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale, featuring the iconic musical score from the MGM film. The timeless tale, in which young Dorothy Gale travels from Kansas over the rainbow to the magical Land of Oz.

Female Identifying. (Mezzo/Mix) Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and
strong-willed, in search of something more. Very strong singer who moves well.


HUNK / SCARECROW

Any Gender. (Baritone) Plucky and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a
brain. Strong actor with an honest quality. Excellent dancer – acrobatic skills a bonus. Strong
baritone to F.


HICKORY / TIN MAN

Male Identifying. (Baritone/Tenor) Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic.
Singing and dance required. Strong baritone / tenor to G.


ZEKE / COWARDLY LION

Any Gender. (Baritone) A mix of bravado and cowardice. Should move
well. Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing. Vocal range: Strong baritone to F.


ALMIRA GULTCH / WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST

Any Gender. Character villain with an over-the-top stage presence. Excellent comic actor, has a killer cackle. Sings comically but
doesn’t have to sound good.


PROFESSOR MARVEL / THE WIZARD OF OZ

Any Gender. Older father figure with an eccentric flair.
Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus. Non-Singing.


GLINDA / AUNT EM

Female Identifying, (Soprano) Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved.
Strong singer.


UNCLE HENRY / EMERALD CITY GUARD

Male Identifying. Dorothy’s pleasant uncle. Guard - (Baritone) Strong comic actor, big presence.


MUNCHKINS: The little people of Munchkinland. Long oppressed, and happy to
be freed, the Munchkins will (mostly) be played by children. Group singing and coordinated
movement required. Dance experience is a plus. There are some featured roles among the
munchkins, such as The Coroner, The Lollipop Guild, and The Lullaby League.


FLYING MONKEYS / WINKIES / OZIANS / JITTERBUGS / CROWS / TREES /  ENSEMBLE: Any Genders.18+. The chorus of the show, with featured speaking/vocal/dancing roles available.
